Technically you still get 2 solutions if d=0, it's just called a double root and the numbers are the same.

There are always 2 solutions, if d>0 you get 2 real solutions, if d=0 you get a double root solution e.g. 1 and 1. If d<0 you get 2 imaginary solutions.
