Actually, decriminalicing drugusers allows them treatment instead of punishment which helps alot of people who fall into drug addictions. They get a chance to a normal life instead of being marked for life by a criminal record. Also it would decrease the black market which is resposible for a lot of ***ed up shit in the world. There are so many facts and arguments which prove gun control to be completely useless (and in fact, counter productive) but all of them pale in comparison to this one statement:

If guns become illegal, what makes you think everyone who is already ignoring laws (i.e. criminals) would pay any attention to the one banning guns? Suddenly, civilians don't have any guns, but all the criminals still do. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

Neither side is a solution... that's not a problem of access to guns, but rather a sociological problem of our society.
As long as there are intentions to use them, they'll be used. Delete poverty (by using 1/4th of the money from the 100 richest, for example) and religion, and you solve most of the problems regarding violence.
