And I don't care what else anyone has ever told you, the Sun is white, not yellow. Human color perception is a complicated business, but if the Sun were yellow, like a yellow lightbulb, then white stuff such as snow would reflect this light and appear yellow—a snow condition confirmed to happen only near fire hydrants.

The Sun's surface temperature is 5800 K. That is white hot (peak emission at about 500 nm, in the green portion of the visible spectrum). It looks yellow at Earth's surface because the blue/green component of its light is Rayleigh scattered in the atmosphere (which is why the sky is blue), giving the remaining light a yellow cast. If you are above the atmosphere, the Sun looks white.
