It's called OCR (optical character recognition), but it's not perfect, sometimes it guesses wrong, and that would screw up translation.. for that reason it needs huge library of terms, and that would make this program quite bulky, not to mention it needs a lot of processing to go trough all the matches ... BUT It's possible, expectantly with phones like galaxy note 2

and don't forget font recognition, letter size variation and irregular line breaking.

It is real.
What amazes me is that you most people have smartphones with enough processing power to do incredible things, yet they paid 1000$ for scrolling on Facebook.

It's real but it sucks. I just tried it. Nowhere near fluid like on the video; you must wait a good few secs to focus and even then results are awful. This video is totally faked. It's like a demonstration of concept, not the actual tech.

It is real, and this is not that impressive technology. What is impressive is that there is people to invest their money in such devices.

Ok this could help a lot in for example Japan or Jhina where you can't even read the characters to look them up in a dictionary. This is useful. Altough this graphic reprocessing is superfluous a single character type hud style display would consume less storage space and hardware power.

It's real. It's an app called Word Lens. It's free, but to get Spanish to English you have to do an in-app purchase. Otherwise, all you can do is flip the words in real time.
