Its not about how many were sent compared to how many were produced in Russia it was about the time in which they were sent, most of it was sent when Russia was moving its industry into the east when they were unable to build any tanks, thats what makes it important.
Also T-34 was not technologically advanced the only thing the original versions good was the sloped armour, sloping armour is not technology.
Also the t-34 is not the basis of modern tanks, not even close, the closets tank to todays main battle tanks is the British Centurion tank, it was built with the same principals that main battle tanks are now. The T-34 however was not as you can see just by looking at it.
But no matter how much you argue pre and early ww2 Soviet union was a technological backwater, stalin's main focus was specifically to catch up to western technology which the Soviet union never really managed.
The USSR was a backwards (technologically) shithole before, during and after WW2, the only reason the Russians survived was due to the huge amounts of tanks, planes, arty and general equipment sent to them via lend lease from the UK and America.
Everyone over hypes Russia to be somthing but in reality it was a shithole, the only thing good about actual Russia was the winter, which is not really controlled by Russia.
