The T pose is the default pose for a character without an animation applied since Half-Life (maybe even before) and for a lot of games since.
Usually this is only visible in a model viewer, but in a buggy game you may see a character in T pose like is not big deal,Hilarious to watch.
It became pretty common in Gmod videos as well, as a joke, and Prop Hunt also features your starting character in T pose.
