Anime, by definition, cannot win. It's an inherently loser medium. Incapable of achieving a mature form of storytelling. There has never been and will never be a "mature" anime.

Its ceiling is at best for teenagers, but can't go beyond that. And people who think anime is a valid form of storytelling lack the capability to read between the lines or comprehend things that are not explicitly said to them.

I used to agree with the whole "tatoos will look gross when you're older" argument, but then someone pointed out that old people look like shit anyways and that changed my perspective.
