Barely posting but in case someone read the deal around me and the gf buying a house and me losing my job; I started my new job about a month ago. Same development principles but switches fields towards mechanical engineering. It's interesting stuff, but challenging. Even though it's exhausting so far, learning new stuff always makes me happy so I'm enjoying it more and more. The house is finished enough to have guests over by now, which is nice. I still want to do a ton more but I'm glad the necessary stuff is done. It's going to be a very busy year, even more so since we decided to stop using contraception and see where that takes us. Glad things are falling into place.

Well after buying the house (which is great) I got the news that the company I work at will be filing for bankruptcy. Been there since the beginning, so I've been working to build the company from the ground up so kinda sad to see it go, but a new start work wise does sound nice. Sad thing is that my boss seems hell-bent to screw us over financially in this situation every chance he gets. I'm not even sure at this point if it's bad intentions or plain incompetence but the situation is spiraling towards a point where being fired actually sounds like a blessing. It's a sinking ship, he's already jumped off to a new company he's starting and I'm doing what I can to do the same. Two job interviews lined up already though, which I'm quite excited about. Same field of work, more challenging and better pay and benefits. After the (forceful) move to a new house the timing is quite shit since my energy levels are already running on reserves, but I'm quite hopeful I can start 2025 in a way better spot than I have 2024, even if I didn't have much choice on the timing.

Chin up lads, we're gonna get there.

I'll have a Delirium Tremens

Oh totally agree. I've been feeling tired lately but her talking to me kind of quantizes me walking around with something that's bothering me. I like to make sure to know what's wrong and when to talk with her about it though before I start blurting out stuff and stressing her out more than necessary. Good advice nonetheless though

Welcome to the Netherlands man. Not sure where you're from but people tend to strike up conversations about the most random stuff, especially people over 50, depending on where you're living now.

Good luck on your Dutch adventures, make sure to try dutch fried snacks since it's pretty much the only redeeming quality food wise around here.

Feeling a bit down the last couple of days. Gf has been noticing as well since I've been more closed and short. Life's been hectic lately with the house and stuff. Lots of friends coming to me for help with their struggles, which I feel grateful for in a way, but now ending up in a spot where I don't really have a ton of people to turn towards myself since they're dealing with their own stuff which bums me out a bit. Guess I overextended on that front. The house stuff is almost ready for moving though, which feels nice. Looking forward towards a 2 weeks vacation soon, I never needed one as bad. Still have a bunch of books I wanna get through which seems like a great time. The friends and gf will have to deal with me doing my own thing a lot probably. Looking forward towards a less stressful time soon hopefully. Hope the barkeep is doing well himself, recommend me something you like and have one yourself

Me and the gf got told a while ago our rent contract will be stopped. Managed to buy a house in a complete shit market. The whole search sucked all the energy out of me. It's an amazing place, but the loans, paperwork and stuff totally sucked the joy out of moving. Gonna start getting rid of some stuff this weekend to get into the moving mood, hopefully that'll help get back into the flow of moving into a great place again. Right now, I'm tired so I'll have a hot Chocomel before going to bed.

Coincidentally in Japanese public transport as we speak and it's the cleanest best functioning system I've seen so far. The Netherlands is generally great (although the Dutch disagree because we always need to complain about something, also ignoring the shithole called Amsterdam in this case) but we got nothing on the manners of passengers & bus drivers, punctuality and cleanliness.
