Once you get used to a certain speed, the sped up videos just feel like normal. Even the voices and the music sound normal to you.
As for the audiobooks, I rarely read fiction, mostly history so I don't really care about the artistic intent. Also, when reading yourself you also get little of the authors original artistic intent, but rather your own interpretation anyway.
Fwiw I did a test with my own reading speed and I normally read text at around 1.9x-2x speed when compared to most audiobooks recordings but listening at a lower tempo allows me to visualize more

It's weird to me how some of the older generations are really opposed to consooming at a higher speed than normal. I was talking to a gen x-er and telling him I listen to my audiobooks at 1,5-1,7x speed and he was adamant that's impossible and I really really shouldn't do it

And most of the European/western countries are at least financially and ideologically under US rule. Of course they would favor the US proxy in the far east
