My dad is buried under a double headstone. My mom had planned on being buried next to him and having her name and birth/death dates engraved on the other side. But life went on after Dad died, and she wound up moving 500 miles away from where Dad is buried. We haven't done much planning regarding Mom's funeral, but I'm pretty sure it won't be financially feasible to have mom transported back there to be buried next to dad. I think we'll just find a place here for her.

On some level it is sad, thinking of them being separated for all eternity, but really, they won't know or care, having passed on. Maybe we could have a map engraved on the other side of Dad's headstone, showing where Mom is buried. For passers-by who are curious...
