This line of thought is cynical and cowardly. I'd rather get surgery (since the title mentions it, I'll give an example featuring it!) from a surgeon who's a dick rather than from a 'nice' religious priest (who's nice mainly because of what's in it for him, from what I've experienced. I've met quite a lot of fake religious people who appear to be nice, but then they're rotten inside. In any case, that's irrelevant, since personal anecdotes have no value for science) who has no idea.
You're of course free to believe what you want, but do not pretend I'll respect any >2000-year-old archaic, immoral, man-written book as my moral guide.
