I went to journalism school and the main reason why mainstream news outlets don't report these things when the information is known is because they wait for an official statement to be released with the information. They do this because if some of the information is incorrect, its not their fault and it keeps them looking credible.

Yea, but being ticketed for going 2 km over the limit is complete donkey dick. Where I live, going 10 to 20 km over the limit is generally accepted. Everyone goes over the limit.
