I'd buy new games that looked like they released on 7th gen or older. Anything beyond that started getting diminishing returns in terms of graphics and how much more power you need to handle it. I can't imagine what could bring the budgets so high outside of graphics (and marketing I guess) as it's not like new technology has given us access to interesting gameplay mechanics that couldn't have been done before.
