Just because they're in congress, it doesn't mean they know what they're doing. They have access to more information, but that doesn't make them qualified or more smart than you, and if you believe that a place in the congress means over qualifications, I have really bad news for you.

Well, sitting around moping and waiting for shit to happen won't solve it either. People who get rejected should go out, meet new people, do mistakes (condoms are your best friends in this!) and get over it.
