I just hope he outlives me.. so I dont have to help my mother hunt down and remove all the devices from their walls. Cause that system fails after 2 months without maintenance.. And no one but him would be willing or able to keep it functional.

They are not actually smart home devices... They are basically raspberry pi'es connecting to a server hosting home assistant in their basement. I just call them smart systems so the lame person can understand. It is a form of technological warefare against my mom.

My father is a developer.. my mother is a "lead system tester"(something like that).
It's a match made in hell. (Their light switches barely even works as they are changed for some other smart system every other month(as my mother advocates for simplicity while my father wants to turn the light off in case they forgot when leaving for work))
