This is generally true, and Portugal has an amazingly strong roster this World Cup. The problem is that 3 of their starting players are out due to injuries, and the great olive-skinned hope that is Ronaldo had arguably one of the worst match days of his professional career.
Until I watched Portugal completely fall apart against Germany, I had little faith that the United States would make it out of group play at all. I expected a German win, but not a 4-0 trouncing.
That said, if Portugal pulls their act together, the best the United States can hope for is a draw, and ultimately a loss against Germany (because let's face it, the United States is better than a lot of non-'muricans are willing to admit, but don't stand a chance against Germany).
tl;dr We'll see who is eliminated from Group G on Sunday.
