Sometimes, revisiting a character is not bad ! I like both the laid-back, smiling and charming Sean Connery James Bond, and the cold tense and severe Pierce Brosnan Bond, although they are very different.
When it's only shoving minorities down your throat for marketting purposes (hello Netflix& Disney), it's obviously shit, but as long as your character is fleshed out and well written, who gives a shit about their skin color or hairstyle ? Not you it seems, and kudos for that.

The thing with the Bible is, unlike your made-up sources, pretend photographs and deep web unhinged articles, that's very easy to go check the actual scripture.
