With https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principal_component_analysis it's an amalgamation of a lot of features. But one core goal of PCA is to amplify differences (to be able to define a boundary, so as to classify data points) in a low dimensional space.

Without knowing the features that were used, I'd still say PCA isn't a good "distance metric" to make a conclusion of "this is radically different". So I wouldn't say this is an appropriate analysis. There are likely more proper tools for this, and it'd be interesting to see the results of those.
