It does not just mean your favorite medieval character...Currently I am in a LARP for Vampires the Masquerade, set in present day. There is also a Star Trek LARP that meets at the same place on Thursdays. All Larping stands for is "Live Action Role Play" hence the word, Larp. So, in conclusion, it can be dressing up as anything, and acting out anything that is not in a play or movie setting (i.E a stage, movie set, etc)
