I don't see how she has a point, had "the white man" left africa alone it would be more or less the same today as it was when he arrived. In the bigger picture the entire continent was stagnant for centuries, only interrupted by some historic civillization popping up from time to time.

Africa has enough problems even without outside influence. It would be better for the rest of the world if incredibly ressource rich countries like the D.R. Congo were stable since mining operations and the like tend to not work that well in a failed state without anything that even remotely resembles functional infrastructure that's ravaged by civil war every half decade.
