i'm oversimplifying a lot but, EU is dope to steel money from. Not so much for good and decent life if you value pointless stuff like speech and your home country traditions and your local bussness... My honest opinion is that is the new Soviet union. Eastern europeans can smell totalitarizam from miles. Centralization of power is never a good sight.
