Having to reatreat from region xy to focus on z is not a good look, even more if things are going slowly in your focus on z

Nobody is saying Russia will give up, just that their casualty rate is detrimental to their abbility to conduct a sucessfull full scale war in the future. Yes they are gaining land, but you have to ask your self at what price and what rate. We have alredy seen this when they had to pull out of the Kyiv region because of their innability to conduct offensives in that region. We have also seen recently them having to scale back their precense around Kharkiv. to focus on the Donbass region and progress in that region is going very slowly.
