Perhaps I now find myself as the one saying "stop being sad" without having been depressed. Either way, God be with all with such struggles.

I'm pretty sure that definition changed over time, as sex and gender were interchangeable at the time I learned them, but noted

I do respect their suffering, and I in no way wish for them to be under additional distress, but as you somewhat mentioned in your other comment, I don't wish for 'nobody to tell them the obvious because it's uncomfortable to do so'. If they feel that they're not the gender that they are, it is somewhat uncomfortable to try to dissuade them from that belief, but is better if they accept themselves for who they actually are and work on bringing that into line with who they want to be in a functional way.

For example, I would very much like to be a wizard (however childish that may be), but have come to the unfortunate realization that I cannot cast spells, have no mana, and am simply not a wizard. If everyone around me affirms that yes friend you are a wizard, go cast some spells and do wizard things, it in no way helps me to be a wizard. The support is somewhat nice, as being encouraged is nice, but isn't really beneficial from a long-term standpoint. At some point the realization sets in that I am in fact, not casting any spells. Those of a different gender should at some point recognize "Hey I've got the wrong equipment down there" and prosthetics and surgery don't actually change that, none of it's biologically functional. I can have a really fancy lookin' staff but it's not casting magic missile. But if you accept what you can do, what you are, and work on finding what your actual goal is, you can find a path to that goal. If your goal is simply "I want to be the other gender", I can't really help with that. But if you want to do the things the other gender does, go for it I guess.

In short, I do not encourage suffering, disdain, or hatred. I encourage honesty. Christ died for them as much as he did for me, and loves them as much as he does me, and calls me to do the same. But love is not unconditional affirmation, it is truth.

For clarification I don't advocate for running around calling people names and harassing them for being mentally ill, I'd much rather they get the support they need to help them get better.

I think the phrase "You don't know S-", repeated 3 times, somewhat implies hostility, but perhaps that is a difference in our environments and not intended as such. Fair enough if that is simply your manner of speech

Also I feel compelled to point out the amount of 'ego and "I know my way is better" mindset' in your response there. It is easy to attack the other side as lesser when you feel you're obviously right, but if your response is "you don't know anything about it and have no grounds to speak or help" to a person you've never spoken to and know nothing about other than a one-off opinion, perhaps you should consider why such hostility exists there.

It is unfortunate the state of how such people are treated, I agree. There does seem to be a fairly telling sign of not being a gender other than what you are though. If you wanna act girlish as a man, or manly as a girl, go for it. Behave in a manner suitable to how you wish to act, so long as it doesn't bring harm. Mutilating oneself is an irreversible act that is entirely unhelpful though.

You want to do girly things? Go for it, but don't expect that to make you a girl, or people to treat you as a girl. I can act like I'm a dog all I want but that's not gonna make someone come pet me and play fetch. and people would likely be made uncomfortable in the process.

Gender confusion is an odd term for it, as outside of hermaphrodites there really shouldn't be a way to confuse your gender, fairly biologically apparent for humans. Maybe disappointed in what you are, but if you're confused about what gender you are then you've been lied to at some point.

Just because you don't acknowledge who you actually are doesn't mean that I can't, and doesn't mean that I won't love you as Jesus did regardless. But love isn't unconditional affirmation; love desires the betterment of the other person, and living in constant, unfulfillable delusion is not going to help someone.
