You can always try listening to radio and T.V. shows of the language you are trying to learn and then start learning the grammer, etc. That way you pick up an ear for the language and are more motivated to learn. I am watching Gaki no Tsukai and it is helping me learn Japanese. I am picking up new words here and there and I am learning the actual language, not just textbook stuff which is usually wrong.
