why should I not tell the truth? I'm trying to explain things and get downvoted :D In general it is two different things, but transcribing the japanese symbols/syllables into letters and writing it as close as you pronounce it makes it easier.

It's pronounced "sempai", because if a syllable beginning with "p" or "b" follows an "n", "n" is pronounced as "m". This phenomen is called "anticipatory assimilation to an adjacent segment". Thus writing sempai or senpai is both correct. Trust me I studied lingustics and japanese.
