Please read DC One Million, then talk about the limitations of Superman. Superman Prime (yes, the same Superman, only thousands of years into the future) is the second strongest being in the Multiverse. The strongest is the Creator, or as you might call him, GOD. Superman has the ability to warp reality itself, to create and destroy universes. His strength, speed, intelligence, hearing, telepathy, teleportation (YES!) are unparalleled. Superman can be in multiple places at the same time. Also, Superman has this little thing called: "Immortality: Superman Prime will live until the end of the multiversal reality itself."

Growing old (and dying) is due to the limit of cell division most living things possess. After every division, a few genes from the end of the DNA double helix are lost, every single time. All cells have a "buffer" zone of "useless" genes, so that when genes are lost in the division process, those "useless" ones are lost and the functionality of the DNA strand continues. After enough genes lost, the DNA strand is left unusable -> The cell dies. This is what's making living things grow old and die, the loss of genes in the DNA strand through division. Telomerase repairs this "buffer" after every division, so the cell can continue dividing endlessly -> No aging -> No death from old age.

Cancer cells have this repair system of the "buffer", but it's uncontrollable (as the nature of the cancer), and they invade every other living tissue. When the scientists figure out a way to keep the cells under control and to maintain the "buffer" repair system, we will reach impreviousness from old age.
