Change is one of the most difficult things that we face, but change is inevitable. One reason we don't like change is we get comfortable where we are. We get used to our friends, our job, the place we live, and even if it's not perfect, we accept it, because its familiar.
What worked 5 years ago, may not work today. If you're going to be successful,you have to be willing to change.
Didn't need quest markers, but one thing Morrowind needed was a quest log.
Your journal tended to get auto-clogged with absolutely everything you possibly did or encountered, and it didn't separate quests from the random shit that happened to you.
This was intentional, I'm willing to bet. They wanted to ensure that the mouse would never be used with a cord in it to maintain the aesthetic, so they put the port in a place where the device is essentially impossible to use while charging.
