Actually, its a little different, but since you did not make this comic, I'll forgive you.. Short answer however is that the friend-zone is not really a place you can leave behind without leaving said girl. The friendzone-effect takes place when a guy/girl has feelings for someone, but instead of just saying they dont like him or her, they describe everything they look for in a person that somehow is exactly like said boy or girl, but when he/she acts upon it, they somehow dont want that person.. Yet instead of simply saying nay, I doth not fancy thou, they go ahead and play with the feelings, so the person thinks there is hope, without there being any.
That my friend, is the friendzone-effect, not simply someone that thinks everyone he likes, likes him or her back.
