That's the beauty of a lot of literature. Sure, the author has an individual purpose and meaning which he/she tries to mediate. But even if there is a certain meaning or purpose, you can interpret it in a way that you think fits.

Why don't we all shut up about female rights and fight for equal rights for all humans instead? Why focus on one gender when there are numerous races, different sexualities and greatly divided social groups? Screw focusing on female rights, focus on equal human rights for all men and women who walk this planet with us.

You are correct when you say that there's no certainty that a shrink can help everyone. The main point I wanted to push was that people nowadays seem to be incapable of dealing with their issues. I barely even see people wanting to try dealing with them. I've seen a lot of people go through a hard period and when it was over they just gave up. It saddens me to see people give up after one try, if even one, and I guess I just didn't make my point clear enough in my first comment.
