when I said that you don't have to celebrate it to be considered 18, I was referring to "celebrating bc they can't arrest anyone under 18". when I said arresting is not the same as saying they're going to jail, I was referring to the fact that the police can indeed arrest minors, because arresting is not the same thing as saying they're going to jail. It's really not that hard to understand, but there are several different concepts involved in it.

nah, I'm pretty sure you're the one reading it wrong. It is literally written there that they're celebrating because they can't arrest anyone under 18. which, like I said, is wrong, since they can arrest minors (which is not the same thing as saying they're going to jail) and they are not celebrating it for that reason. I'm not misinterpreting anything. it just feels that way to you bc you probably don't understand what I just said about criminal responsibility.

the irony of the situation is just lost on everyone who don't get that, which is probably why the dude who posted the video came up with that bs description. But the cops know the law though, they get what's so funny about that guy's situation.

how dare you comment something that makes sense and should be pretty obvious to anyone who has a brain and can read? I'm afraid you're in the wrong place, sir.

It's in the video. "celebrating [...] bc they can't arrest anyone under 18". The whole thing is just several layers of wrong info adding up.

They're actually missing the whole point of that video: since he was turning 18 that day and he was caught in an attempt robbery on that very same day, he will be trialed as an adult. if he had tried to rob someone on the day before, it just wouldn't matter if he was caught after turning 18, he would still have been trialed as a minor since he wasn't 18 when he committed the crime. that's why they're making fun of him, on the very first day he became criminally responsible, he was caught comitting a crime.

but yeah, the overall opinion here is shit. not just regarding Brazil. Salve irmão

Completely wrong. They're celebrating it just to mock him. He's in the police station already and that day was his bday. There's no such thing as having to celebrate it to be considered 18, wtf. Since he was taken in for robbery on the day of his 18 bday he will be trialed like an adult not as a minor. Doesn't mean the police can't arrest minors. The amount of misinformation mirrors the dumb idea ppl in the comments have of what brazil is like.

almost sounds like presidents are only allowed to do one single thing before their turn in over.

are you for real? you're telling me that the thought that people might still develop several health conditions even though they're not lethal went completely over your head?
