And arboreal primates that are frugivores(our ancestors) have front facing eyes to allow dept perception, giving them the ability to navigate tree tops without planting their face in the dirt because they failed to judge their distance to a branch.
Gorillas get B12 from ingesting soil that is on the plantmatter that they consume. The soil is covered in B12 producing bacteria.
Fun fact though, scurvy(vitamin C deficiency) afflict all primates and Guinea pigs since we've all lost the ability to produce vitamin C and as such HAVE to include it in our diet, contrary to most carnivores.
