Yeah, nobody won WW1, it was terrible for everyone (even more so for the Germans), which directly led to WW2 which was even more terrible...

More like... (from left to right)
"Busy destroying itself but actually manages to win the war."
"Digs in and doesn't pay attention. Surrenders not long after getting surprised."
"Promises to help but doesn't do anything untill it gets hit where it really hurts."
"Comes in late, cheats, then claims the war was won because of them."

Hush! Just accept them as our new overlords already, or do you want to be terminated? No? I thought so.

The Low Countries (or later, the BeNeLux) were a strategical and political choice for Nazi-Germany. From the Netherlands, Germany wanted to invade the British Isles (instead of an invasion from France, as many people suspect). Also, the Nazi Party saw the Dutch and the Flemish (Dutch-speaking Belgians) as "BrĂ¼der", practically meaning that they saw them on the same level as most Germans (but not as high as Aryans). Luxembourgh was annexed and included into Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands were annexed in what would become the "Deutsches Reich", together with Germany, Czech, and some parts of Poland (and Austria/Luxembourgh, but those were already annexed into Germany).

Although thanks to the failed invasion of Britain, any strategical importance the Low Countries actually had were the defensive lines in Belgium (that failed to keep the Allies away, in this war too) and the Dutch bicycles (the Wehrmacht stole them and used them for the soldiers. Until this very day, Germany never repayed it's debt of the Dutch population's bikes xD)

Switzerland never really was important to the Germans, as it was an enclave within Axis France, Germany, and Italy.
