What you're talking about is a pentacle, the pagan simbol of Neopagans. Altho, they also use the regular pantagram as a ritualic simbol, it -The Star of David was it's name :) - is used as a simbol of faith, and thus may be used to repel evil, in theory.
As far as I know, pentacle is the Official Oxford accepted for the dark usage of the simbol, but you can use both words, really.

Well, that's a great thing and I do that too, but people don't give a crap about it, so if you care about how people see your profile then you can choose to hide them and still make a point in your conversation without loosing karma.
