In reality, Americans (and the west in general) see ancient Greece really as another part of western civilization, not necessarily as its own distinct entity. Hence, they (hollywood) depict them as they view themselves, ie multicultural, multiracial with ftm troon heroes and a black woman as the kween of Sparta

Also because ancient Greece is seen as "western" no one really considers this to be cultural appropriation (which would be the case for other ethnics) not that i personally care about that, but it is extremely cringe
