The cheetah has non-retractible claws, unlike any other big cat, and they use those to get better traction when they are running. However, this makes them really dull, and they can't use those as weapons. Instead they have one relatively tiny claw on the back of their frontal ankles that they use to grapple onto the backs of their prey. This is the only method of attack that they have other than their fangs. And since they use up most of their stamina running down their prey, they are pretty much defenseless against any other predator that drops by and tries to steal their kill. Especially since, unlike leopards, they can't climb trees and eat in the treetops due to the aformentioned dull claws.
So as soon as a cheetah kills something they drop down on the floor, panting as fast as they can to regain their energy, praying that nothing particularly threatening drops by before they've recovered and hoping beyond hope that they'll get at least one bite in their meal before they get chased off.
