In fact, they were losing it so harshly, the reason they dind't give up is because the american aid came, they were already out of men to fight the war.(the casualties were so high they had to call Portugal to aid them lol)
Even the americans were being outrunned by the germans, they dind't beat germany, germany surrender due to a collapsing economy and facing a total devastation
