American evangelicalism and its many forms - 7th Day Adventism, Jehovas Witnesses, Mormonism, Amish - all spawned in the 19th century because America lacked a state mandated Church like Catholicism and so everyone saw it as an opportunity to get a piece of the pie.

They capitalized on man's two biggest fears: fear of change (specifically women's rights and technology, though this applies mostly to the Amish) and fear of the end (hence why so many are obsessed with their doomsday predictions. Additionally for this, they even made up the idea of the rapture which is nowhere to be found in the Bible or any of the actual Abrahamic scriptures yet it still is believed to this day as shown when rapturetok spawned last year lol).

And of course, this doesn't even begin to cover all the cults that spawned as well as Mega Churches and Televangelism over a hundred years later, which make the Catholic Church look like a charitable saint by comparison with their financial greed.

All roads lead back to capitalism.
