If the phones were shitty, people wouldn't buy them.
The phones are very good indeed.
But, for the price you must pay, it's not worth it for much people.
Like me. I think Android > iOS.

But it does not immediately turn the phony shitty and the users dumb..

I get the iPhone hating since it's a shit product, I don't get the blatant apple hating. iPods are awesome and apple computers have always been awesome.

I've to agree on the newer touch. My old iPod touch (5 years old) fell down the ***ing stairs and survived it. My newer gets scratches whenever I put it in my pocket :/

I've got a late '09 iMac, an older iPod a galaxy phone, nexus tablet and a PC with windows and they're all awesome imo, but there's so much blatant bandwagon hating, every brand has their up's and down's. If somebody thinks something is immediately shit when it has another name then you're just a mindless sheep that hopped on the bandwagon of the <insert brand> hating community.

It always depends on what a person wants want from it. For me it's the little things that make it awesome. For instance I can use my remote control for my mac when watching movies since it has a built in infrared sensor.

If you want to go for pure performance it's not the best of course. But that's not the niche it's going for. Too many people are comparing apples and oranges.
