See, the problem is OP didn't properly counterwight the hammer around the axis of rotation, causing the drill to lose control.
Additionally, he was using a spinning motion to apply a rotating applied force when hammers are better used when applying a linear force. The only reason humans swing a hammer is because it is the best way to generate the momentum required using the human limbs, and we generally use such a large radius that the hammer is essentially traveling in a linear path. OP using a drill as the axis of rotation only had less than the length of the hammer arm as a radius which resulted in a more "rotational move."
I applaud the attempt at making a consumer power hammer (all we have is the commercial jack hammer), but unfortunately this failed.
