My favorite way to play dark souls is no rolling, no shields, no ranged. Just walk up with the biggest weapon you can carry and the heaviest armor you can still move in, and go to town on the boss. If you feel the need, you can block with your weapon as a last resort. Its completely different from how I usually play (full rollslop with a claymore), and its fascinating whoch bosses get much easier and which get way harder.
