Hey! Sorry for a late reply, I have been super busy the last couple of days.
Honestly I get the language thing. Danish is super hard to get right, even aftter decades with the smallest accent, native danes will critisize you. And Danish is a globally miniscule language, so unless you live in Denmark, not really much reason to learn it. After all most danes speak english.
Although all of the ruling is over 80 years ago, we still have some issues with that integration and stuff. e.g. is how we in the late 90 took greenlander-children and kind of robbed them of their identity. If you where them, I'd get it. but dude, 80 years, that seems like a little harsh.
Personally, I love Iceland and I'm definitly going there at some point. You guys have some of the most beautiful nature, culture and people.
