When you render it, the information is stored in the RAM or whatever you have for the graphics. The information for the whole map however, is stored in the persistent memory. And that thing about surface is really messy, again. Who is there to say what area on the map corresponds to one square meter in the real world?

The map exists even if it is not rendered. It’s like saying something does not exist when you don’t look at it. And the claim about this being bigger than the known universe is bs.

Not reallly, but in the case of solar panels, there is not a linear relationship between the flux (amount) of light incoming on the panel and the power output. That is, you won't get more energy out if you add more sun, even if you had a perfect solar panel.

Now add to the fact that they become less efficient once they get too hot---which usually happens because you already have so much light that you are in the maximum output zone---and this means that they actually outpus less energy, even though there is more sun.

So in this particular situation, less efficiency means less power output. This may differ drastically in scope depending on the type of solar panel, but this behaviour is common to all of them.
