I'd say dialogue is acceptable (not good immediately) if it sounds natural. Does it fit with the character, their beliefs, emotions, etc.? Does it add anything to the conversation other than a 'that just happened' type shit? Does it not stick out in the setting (ie. no modern slang/sensibilities in medieval fantasy)? The dialogue in game isn't awful per se, like it is in Forspoken or Veilguard. From what I've seen it's mostly at this acceptable level, except for certain extremely out of place lines that are a really poor attempt at humour/reek of modernity like the 'scary skeleton lady' option during an actually decent conversation with Yatzli.

I'd say the game isn't awful like most people say, but it certainly isn't good either. It's just mid. Around 5/10, give or take 1 point.

Dialogue and design are subjective, and I accept your opinion, but I think most people won't agree with you, me included

Should've specified that you can't leave annoying companions 'during quests/sections of the story that need them for the plot, but don't really need them sensibly' (like Skyrim)

That militia scripted event is just one of the few interactions like that. A better RPG would have more of that, and less non-interactibility

Pros:
You actually have more of a choice then you do in basic RPGs like Skyrim, but still fall far, far short of actually good RPGs
Combat is better than Skyrim, but still fall far, far short of good action games (firing a gun costs stamina ffs)
Spells look cool

Cons:
Shitty character design for the most part (this is subjective tho)
Vast 'open world', but mostly empty and fake (lots of non-enterable buildings)

Most non-essential (non-questgiver/merchant/companion) NPCs are just set dressing/props
They don't have schedules; they just stay in the same place 24/7
You can't interact with them (ie. talk to them, attack them, steal from them, etc.)
They say snarky/guilt trippy lines when you take stuff that's theirs, but they don't do anything about it
With the lack of crime, you lose an entire aspect of roleplaying
Background NPCs, even guards, don't come to your aid when you're being attacked (except for scripted scenes)
All they do is loop animations

Dialogue is often cringe/generic fantasy slop
Not really that varied options; most are just slight variations of the same thing (though there are some creative ones)
No option to leave annoying companions (Skyrim slightly suffers from this, like Thonnir or Serana)
Extreme lack of immersion
Minimal interactability

As expected, there is one: Grounded Commonwealth. It not only changes blacks, it also changes asians, hispanics, etc. into whites, and also changes a decent chunk of important female characters into males. Unsurprisingly, it's been banned off mainstream sites.
