There's definitely something fishy going on

I think I've also just grown out of my own edgy anti-woke phase that I had in my late teens to the point I've moved on from the both of them. Drinker especially blames today's bad media as a result of writers being more liberal and prioritizing "the message" over substantial storytelling, and while I can't prove that as being totally inaccurate, I think more of the fault lies in big studio execs having a stranglehold on everything while also being tone deaf with what their audiences want - though in their defense, today's political climate does make that difficult to gage and so they will often go the boring safe route down the middle rather than leaning to either extreme.

Disney is obviously the biggest culprit for this - they have become so scared of doing anything innovative at the fear of upsetting people and losing money that they are now resorting to cashing in on nostalgia by remaking beloved classics. Or look at how they're bringing RDJ back to the MCU as Dr Doom.

Speaking of the MCU, some MCU directors having gone on record stating that they have little freedom to offer creative input (or ya know, actually direct their projects) and that it's more the producers like Kevin Feige who direct the movies and shows so that they all retain a sense of synergy to them - the downside to this being that nothing feels unique.

On top of that, there's the usual unfair treatment of the filmmakers - overworked and underpaid VFX artists, writers that get sacked in mass layoffs. And that's not just the film industry but especially prevalent in gaming. My point is, I blame the greedy lazy corpos at the top who want to save every possible buck rather than pointing the finger at the entire left side of the political spectrum.

F*ck Cinemasins though, we can agree on that.

Mauler's problem is that if he dislikes something, he will find a way to find fault with everything about it - he can't offer a balanced take.
On occasion he may raise a good point or offer some genuine criticism but for the most part yeah it's just him being nitpicky, which can make for humorous background noise, even if I don't take his words seriously. I enjoy the slander itself more than any point he might make.

I can't stand his mate the Critical Drinker anymore though - on top of his content becoming repetitive garbage, the final nail in the coffin for me was the awful sound editing of his videos - the guy has no idea what a good audio decibel level should be and my ears have suffered as a result. It's as if he saw "sound peak" and thought "Oi that must mean it's good.". A shame because Will is a published author and his earlier content, like the Ghostbusters scene comparison, was actually decent but now he has fallen into the trap of pumping out anti-woke slop.
