Gamma Male
A person who rejects status and authority, believing that thinking for oneself is possible and desirable, and valuing freedom most.

Their attitudes towards society tend to alternate towards disdain for "the herd"(Betas) and their cattle ranchers (Alphas), and a struggle to just accept people as they are and give up bitterness.

I don't know where you found that, but in my psychology courses at university I learned the following for pack structures:

Alpha (No need to explain.)
Beta (2nd in command, will lead if the Alpha is not arround.)
Gamma (Random member of the pack.)
Omega (Works against the Alpha.)

Not to mention that all of this is outdated at best.

Could be Gamma, could be Omega, in some groups he might be the Beta or Alpha... This all only works in correspondence with the surroundings, not on it's own.
