I can feel my ***ing virginity growing back as I look at this meme. . . for it kinda pisses me off.
for 99% of the imperial guard doesn't fight because "we love the corpse king" they do it because they were forced at gunpoint to join, and it's 100% chance of dying if you don't fight. . . and it's a 99.9997% you die on the battlefield
like the reason they don't get anything more than just a laser pointer and tin amour is because they don't have the skill/will/faith to do anything else.
and yep. . . it grew back and now it has a protective layor too

objection, the meme of guard just dying all the time after 5 minutes is wrong.
It's just a distortion when reading about the worst conflicts like the siege of Vraks and presuming that all conflicts are like that.

Now, I agree that not every battle was "your job is to run out and use your body to gum up the enemy's tank treads"
but at the same time, that doesn't change the imperium's extensive history of not caring about human life. being a guardsman isn't a job you "retire" from. . . it's a job you get assigned untell something kills you.
so yeah. . . maybe 0.001% get to go some safe world and they never have to fight a day in there life. . . but the other 99% get shipped off to conflicts. to die within 5 min or 5 years

I completely agree that it's forced draft and for the most until they are dead or out of commission.
I just don't like those shovel-krieg-memes of guardsmen running head first into tanks and every conflict has 99% attrition.
